by Lucas Kazan
Kazan, born and bred in Milan, crossed the Atlantic in 1991, landed in Hollywood, where he’s been working in the porn industry since 1997, when he made his debut with Journey to Italy.
His homeland remained his main source of inspiration, as shown by titles like Hotel Italia, Italic Style (made in cooperation with Kristen Bjorn and receiving the Gay VN Award for best foreign erotic video), Out of Tuscany and The Road to Naples.
When Bruno Gmünder began publishing his photobooks it was an adventure. The photography of male beauty was just freeing itself from the shackles of physique-photography and was slowly gaining recognition outside the gay scene. Gmünder photobooks were a successful marriage between quality and commercialism. In recent years the latter seems to have gotten the upper hand though.
This fall the collection is offering few to no surprises (in contrast to for instance last year’s Luxure by Richard de Chazal) and Gmünder’s focus of attention seems to have shifted entirely to a fresh batch of youngsters by Howard Roffman or the boys of Bel Ami on their summer outings.
Porn for the coffeetable. One of the more profitable niches in the market.
Gmünder also publishes photobooks by porn producers like Falcon, Titan and Kristen Bjorn.
